Keys to a Happier Life

Sermon from cong readings in 1 Chron 16-20, Aug 19, 2007 – bk@kluth.org

Our ministry theme this year is Reaching beyond generations & walls

1 Chron 16:8-12  (King David proclaimed) “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.  Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.  Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced.”

1 - Thankfulness

1 Chron 16:8  Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name.

Col 3:15b Be thankful.    Phil 2:14 In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing.

Col 2:6-7 Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

2 - Sing

1 Chron 16:9 Sing to him, sing praise to him.

Prov 29:6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but the righteous man sings and rejoices.AMP

Ps 33:1,3 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him…Sing to him a new song.

Eph 5:19-20 Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything.

3 - Tell

1 Chron 16:8b,9b  Make known among the nations what he has done…tell of all his wonderful acts.

Ps 40:10 I speak of your faithfulness and salvation.

Ps 96:3 Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.TLB

Ps 145:4 Let each generation tell its children what glorious things he does.TLB

4 - Rejoice

1 Chron 16:10  Glory (boast) in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Phil 4:4 Rejoice (be cheerful, be calmly happy) in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

5 - Look

1 Chron 16:11 and Ps 105:4  Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Matt 6:26-27  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Ps 34:5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy.

6 - Remember

1 Chron 16:12 Remember (think about, talk about) the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced.

Ps 63:6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.   Ps 77:11-12 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
